 | | Click image for larger view. | In IMPACT, a member is simply a patron with a membership. Membership management consists of one module that allows you to track membership, maintain historical membership information, print membership reports, and inquire into membership information.
You establish membership categories, such as Individual, Family, Corporate, Lifetime, etc., which determine the level of participation in your organization. For each category, you establish a minimum and maximum membership amount. As a simple example, Bob may sign up today (7/15/05) to become an individual member of your organization; he wants the membership to start on 8/1/05, end on 7/30/06. Payment may be made today, or at any future date.
Typically, you manage membership benefits based on membership categories. However, if your requirements are more complicated, they can be managed by purchasing the IMPACT Extended Benefits module.
You add new memberships, or renew existing memberships by using the Membership tab of a patron., which is accessible from several different areas within IMPACT, primarily via the Patron form or the Payment form. Historical membership information is available on the same Membership tab and shows all membership information, from the original membership through the current membership. The current membership status, i.e. Active, Lapsed, Non-member, is shown on the Patron form.
There are a variety of standard membership reports available, including a Membership List which shows patrons by membership status (i.e. Active, Lapsed), a Membership Expiration Report, which shows patrons with expiring memberships, a Membership Activity Report, which shows membership activity during a time period that you select, and a Membership Summary Report that shows the number of new, renewed, rejoined memberships over a user-selected time period.
The Inquiry/Mail part of the membership module allows you a comprehensive method of selecting patrons based on membership information. You can determine the number of active members this year, last year, or for the last five years. You can select patrons whose membership will expire this month, or next month, or two months from now. You can select patrons based on their membership level (e.g. individual, family, etc.). You can select members that decided to renew their membership this month, or those patrons that have rejoined this quarter. Or, you can select patrons based on any combination of this information.
